47 yr old full blown no contractures yet

Hello everyone, my name is Robert and I have DD both hands and LD one foot. Just a little about myself then I have some questions for all you veterens out there. I developed LD about 10 years ago. The nodule on my foot doesn't bother me too much and has stayed pretty much the same. Both hands have somewhat large nodules that started 7 or 8 months ago. I have just started to see two cords, one on each hand. I am scheduled for general doctors apt to confirm and so I can go the next doctor for actual treatment. I currently do not have contracture. First question, can RT (radiotherapy) help my condition although my nodules are pretty large. I've read that only small nodules early are done for RT. I understand there are no cures but I am looking for the best way to slow down my condition. I am definitely one of the unfortunate ones to have Diathesis; therefore I am looking what is best now in my somewhat early stages. Second, my nodule on my foot...should I have that RTed or should I just leave it alone as it hasn't gotten any worse of the years. I don't want to wake this up. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

Re: 47 yr old full blown no contractures yet

Hi criddle welcome to the forum.

I would leave the foot well alone. If it's not causing you any problems, and no ongoing signs of progression leave it be.

Your hand might well be a candidate for RT. It's not the size of the nodules but the current active symptoms, so if it's grown recently or there are others emerging then it might be a good time to consider RT. Don't expect it to shrink the nodules though, although some people do report softening and shrinking after a while. If like your foot it's stable, you can wait, but your post doesn't suggest this is the case?

Best wishes SB
