Aggressive Dupuytrens Question

I'm interested to hear from members who have an aggressive form of Dupuytrens in regards to the following....

1) Did either one of your parents, siblings also have aggressive cases of DD?

2) Did you (or do you) have other issues (Garrods Pads, Lederhose, etc)

3) Where did your DD start? Nodule in the palm, in the finger, cords, no cords......

4) Were you diagnosed at an early age (if so what age)......

5) Do you have any other long standing health related issues......

Thanks.......

Nothing in parents or grandparents. One male sibling had frozen shoulderat 55 and at age 60 DD started (two other male siblings, younger, are fine). My SO has it but his mother also did so I don't think he got it from me :-0

2) Did you (or do you) have other issues (Garrods Pads, Lederhose, etc)
Developed Lederhose a couple years ago in one foot, still manageable

3) Where did your DD start? Nodule in the palm, in the finger, cords, no cords......
Started in RH palm w/nodule

4) Were you diagnosed at an early age (if so what age)......
I was diagnosed at age 48 -- one nodule only in RH but I think it was triggered early by aggressive action using my hand/palm with a chisel to remove floor tile. It wasn't until my mid 50s, almost 15 years later that my one finger had a cord tight enough for NA, still one finger MCP joint. I had a Xiaflex injections in that finger in 2007 and DD started taking off, became very, very aggressive and I know have it in all fingers, BOTH hands

5) Do you have any other long standing health related issues......
Yes-- what did you have in mind? :-)

Edit: changed my math to indicate onset to first NA was 15 years. A little known side effect of DD-- screws up your math skills :-).

Re: Aggressive Dupuytrens Question

My history

1) Did either one of your parents, siblings also have aggressive cases of DD? - Father some contraction in one finger one hand. Never diagnosed but probably DD. One brother with ledderhose in one foot.

2) Did you (or do you) have other issues (Garrods Pads, Lederhose, etc) - I have DD both and and Ledderhose in both feet

3) Where did your DD start? Nodule in the palm, in the finger, cords, no cords...... - Started with Ledderhose in one foot in my early teens. By early 20's I had LD both feet and DD both hands

4) Were you diagnosed at an early age (if so what age)...... - No. I didn't know what I had until my early 30's

5) Do you have any other long standing health related issues...... - I am now 61 and I have no other health issues

Re: Aggressive Dupuytrens Question

Hi there

1) My maternal grandfather had it. By the time he was 50 (and he died in that year) his hands were so curled he had difficulty driving. They did not know what it was and he was never diagnosed with DC.

2) Yes, Lederhose in both feet. Two operations in left foot.

3) Nodule between thumb and index finger, left hand was the first sign, followed by palmar nodules in both hands.

4) First nodule appeared when I was 40. The Lederhose had started in my mid-thirties. I'm now 50 and the specialist here in Melbourne describes it as Dupuytrens diathesis - a severe and progressive version of the disease, owing to the fact I have Lederhose, the fact that it's in both hands, my age and female gender.

5) Yes, type 2 diabetes, diagnosed when I was 30. Frequently linked to DD.

Re: Aggressive Dupuytrens Question

See my answers below.

I'm interested to hear from members who have an aggressive form of Dupuytrens in regards to the following....

I am a 64 year old woman of Northern European decent with Dupuytrens in both hands, Lederhose and Garrods Pads. I started getting it at about 54 years of age. I have had several Xiaflex treatments on the left hand and conventional surgery on the right hand. Neither worked! The right hand is in worst shape than before. Both pinkie fingers are severely bent again and I am at a lose as how to proceed. I still have several years left to work and it is getting more and more difficult.

1) Did either one of your parents, siblings also have aggressive cases of DD?

**My Mom and brother have the disease but not to the degree that I do.

2) Did you (or do you) have other issues (Garrods Pads, Lederhose, etc)

**I have Lederhose in both feet and Garrods Pads on several fingers.

3) Where did your DD start? Nodule in the palm, in the finger, cords, no cords......

**Left hand with a nodule in palm, then cords, then in the finger. My hand was curved and my pinkie finger 90 degree

4) Were you diagnosed at an early age (if so what age)......

** Mid Fifties

5) Do you have any other long standing health related issues......

**No, I am in good health, no diabetes and just an occasional drinker.

Re: Aggressive Dupuytrens Question

Surgery started the whole DD issue up in all the fingers other than a slight curve in the pinky before surgery.

I tried NA..after surgery no luck. After two years from surgrey pinky at 180' frozen shut.

All the scar tissue was very exagerated from surly.

Xiaflex opened my pinky and totally deminished all the scar tissue from surgery.

I wear a Fixxglove every night & spring splint during day. My Dd is very active and I'm just resting from any further treatment at this time.

Also did stregenthing therapy and use home ultra-sound and oils on the many nodes in my palms & feet to keep them soft and now after 6 months they are smaller. I can't make a tight fist and drop things, however with time it's been slowly getting better!

Good Luck & hang in there!
Kind Regards,
Cherise
