Has anyone used the Digit Widget to straighten PIP joint? I had the NA procedure about 2 1/2 years ago and my PIP joint in my pinky finger is still bent. Doctor recommended the Digit Widget to me and I'm not sure it sounds like a good option. Apparently it would straighten my finger in 6-8 weeks..Would love any advice/input anyone might have for me. Thanks!

Digit Wigit is a device marketed by Hand Biomechanics Lab. According to the marketer, Digit Wigit is "a surgical device created to aid in the treatment of PIP flexion contractures." It looks like it contains pins which are surgically attached to the bones. It appears to apply a constant torque to the fingers with the contracture, and the amount of torque is controlled by the surgeon."

I don't think it's a substitute for surgery. According to the site, "It is important to remember that while the Digit Widget is very effective in reversing PIP contractures, maintenance of active joint extension requires identification and treatment of the underlying cause of the each patient’s PIP joint contracture."

An example on the site shows a patient having the Digit Wigit attached to straighten the fingers before surgery, then surgery is performed, then the Digit Wigit continues to perform its function to straighten the affected fingers.
