Does using your hand more excelerate DC?

Will using my hand that has DC, being my dominant hand, make my hand contract more? Will simple a task such as writing, using a hammer, or any hand tool bring more damage or will it prolong the effects?
A woman I know said that her hand was great after a sugery she could lay her hand flat after the therapy, splinting then she started to write and her DC came back. I'm sure that the underlining causes differ with each individual but what are things that need to be avoided to prolong effects? I don't mean to sound dumb but don't know everything and don't want to have DC excelerate.

Got Dups the hard way,

Re: Does using your hand more excelerate DC?

I have very limited use in my left hand due to paralysis from an RTA and have to use my dominant Dups affected right hand all of the time. I hope it doesn't excelerate it because I've little other option. That's why drastic treatment, if needed, is a big worry. I hope that I've not left it too long for radiotherapy because I'm trying to pluck up courage to write to Dr Goode at Poole and also to my GP.

Australia Calling. Hi-
Age Factor> Increased Risk. The younger one is diagnosed with MD there is an increased risk ,this was a factor for me." Using your hand ". Most men, who do manual work ,from what I have seen dont take enough care of their hands. I have done lots of things in my life farming, building ,renovating ,mechanics etc always using the hands. The best invention was the cordless drill =screwdriver. The manual scewdriver was bad news exerting to much pressure into the palm of the hand. When I buy power tools ,I always look to buy the one which is rubber mounted. I now always wear gloves . I found them in the safety shop, for industry, they are cotton and rubber faced for grip. I now use a cream with Urea and 'cream up' before any work. If you have to use vibrating rotary hammer drills etc Use for 5 minutes and rest . All of the paint pots or buckets I use I have moderfied by sliding 24mill hose over the wire handles, which means you dont have to grip with a closed fist. You are doing the right thing informing yourself. I 've learnt more in the last 9 months than the past 30 years. THANKS TO THE DUPUYTREN SOCIETY- INFORMATION. Finally ,when you seek medical advice shop around and gets different points of view. I went to 4 surgeons before I was happy . Regards.

Attention TrevB Re-....Using your hand....?

Hi TrevB. Australia Calling.
Why the tribulation about radiotherapy? The low dose radiation is used for many disorders . I did my research and when I read that in Germany in 07 they had treated 40,000 patients for 28 different disorders any cause for worry on my part was put to bed. When I was in Germany last December one of the radiologist said that they had recently treated a 12 yr old female for Ledderhose. Make a start and write your letter. You know what is ahead if you wait too long. Regards.

Hi Newman, I suppose I'm not as confident in this treatment as yourself at the moment, I wish I could be. I'm also concerned, disappointed, surprised that if this form of treatment is so good then why it's not easily available elsewhere other than Germany (I know I read that some ex Iron Curtain countries have used it but that wouldn't fill me with confidence I'm afraid). I read a post somewhere on here by someone who said one hospital refused him treatment because they thought it was risky for him but another seemed a bit more cavalier and said they'd do it, that worried me. My family has a history of cancer and I don't want to give it a jump start if I'm one of the unlucky ones. The one thing that does give me some confidence is that the English doctor mentioned on this site is reported to be used to treating benign growths with radiotherapy.

Having said all that, basically I hate all things medical and find it all rather scary. I hate being my own doctor and I suppose I'm hoping my Dups will go away. I know that that's not going to happen and that you speak from experience with wise and worthwhile advice
