Hi!
I am brand new to the forum....as you all probably experience it is a gift to connect with others about Dupuytrens since most people don't have a clue that it even exists. Thank you all for sharing your experiences and helping me not to feel totally alone with this journey.

I am in my 40's and the bumps, pulling, and rounding of the hand is pretty bad. I am a vegetarian, teach Zumba 6 days a week, maintain an optimal weight and really take care of my body...but none of my "natural" cures are working. I had my first "big knuckle" at the age of 23.

I really need to seek help and start seeking professional treatment. (sigh)

Does anyone know of an extremely experience doctor in the Austin Texas area?
Or anywhere in TX?

OR just an incredible doctor versed in several of the treatment modalities?

I will travel anywhere in the US to get my hands back. I have been a professional dancer and it's extremely noticeable when I am dancing that my left hand doen't really "breathe"....and I can no longer teach yoga since my hands will not go flat.

I have read about Dr. Denkler in northern CA (my hands look similar to Bruce Stenman's who shared his story) and liked hearing that he did several different types of treatment.

In my own experience I wanted the most experienced doctor I could find with experience in open hand surgery or fasciectomy, NA, and Xiaflex, who could best judge which procedure or combination of procedures was best for my hands. I found such a doctor with Dr. Keith Denkler in Larkspur, CA. Larkspur is 60 minutes drive time from the San Francisco airport.

With my last combinatino Xiaflex and NA procedures I had an afternoon appointment for the Xiaflex injections and the following morning Dr. Denkler maniupulated my hand to release the contractures and then use NA where the Xiaflex was not effective or was not used. He use a local to numb my entire hand on both days.

I drove the 110 miles to Larkspur and stayed overnight at a local hotel and drove back home after the morning appointment. If I had flown into San Francisco I could have done the same thing and been only in California for two days.
