Re: FIXXGLOVE

Stefan,

The other finger (both bent fingers were/are my pinkies) is about 20-30 degrees and I've not splinted it yet. Bought one but didn't like it at all. Thinking about a Fixxglove but hard to determine which one to buy.

Re: FIXXGLOVE

I like the fixxglove and wear it mostly during the day. I purchased the one with the metal in the palm. Not sure if the other would have been better but so far I like it. It's very well built. As an engineer, the only thing I'd add is a Velcro strap to add pressure in the palm area across my knuckles. I'm hoping to head out to Home Depot to purchase a Velcro strap. I take it off every couple of hours to flex my fingers in order to prevent stiffness. When I do take it off my finger and palm look great. If I keep it off I can see my finger start to go back to being bent. However, each day I use it and it's only been less than 7, it becomes more comfortable. I'm hoping that means it's doing good.

I will report back at a later date.

Re: FIXXGLOVE

Mikes, when you buy a night splint make sure that it can be adapted to the bend of your finger. The splint should not press onto the finger. That's one of the reasons why I liked the Fixxglove version that has the splint in the palm, not on the back of the hand http://www.dupuytren-online.info/dupuytr...techniques.html. In my view the Juzo splint http://www.juzo.com/en/products/orthoses...uzopro-digitus/ has an additonal advantage because fingers are not forced into a spread position but can be moved against each other. It's also easier to remove not required parts of the splint because the Juzo is splinting fingers individually. But that's my personal view, you need to find the splint that suits you best. BTW, my favourite was a splint where the hand rests in a custom silicon bed but I am not sure whether you can buy a splint like this off the shelf.

Re: FIXXGLOVE

Hi Ed, that's exactly what I had observed I wore the splint at night and in the morning the finger was great and in the evening it had started to bend a little. Next morning it was OK again.

Wolfgang,

Did it ultimately improve or even stay as is or did it get worse? As is would be a win for me!

Re: FIXXGLOVE

It worked as long as I wore the splint (14 months). After I stopped wearing it the contracture returned to its initial state within about 4 months. This was the PIP joint of my little finger (the worst to treat ...) and treatment was Xiaflex.

Thanks Wolfgang. I too have it in my PIP joint on my ring finger. I also have it below as well. I had my 4th or so NA procedure a few weeks ago at about 40-50 degrees. I don't like going much further as the last time I did, I had a significant tear. I've been going every 6 months or so for the NA. Other than the one tear, it's a simple procedure with 2-3 weeks of down time. No pain, just being careful.

I will continue using the glove to see if it will keep me from going back or as I said extend the time.

Re: FIXXGLOVE

It's so much easier to wear a Fixxglove than splints. Easy on easy off & adjustable to the degree needed for fingers to either stay straight or to slowly straighten. Order by size.
So nice to have choices. My dr said I must wear finger support the rest of my life at night in my case. Good Luck!

Re: FIXXGLOVE

I wanted to give a three month update since my NA and me wearing the fixx glove. I've had NA procedures every 6 months or so for the past 4 years. Since wearing the glove, my finger is the best it's been in years!! I can lay my hand flat on a table. Best I can remember, after three months without the glove my finger would have been at 45 degrees. I can't believe how well this is working and wanted to pass it along.

Given my great progress after three months, I'd find it hard to believe I will need another procedure in three months.

I will give an update in three months.
