Good women's gloves?

For those of you who garden or work out at the gym, have you found any particular brands or styles of well-made, well-padded gloves that you like? I'm looking for both types. Gym gloves with wrist support would be a bonus.

Re: Good women's gloves?

I use b-grl gloves for weightlifting. The packaging says they can be used for cycling and other athletic activities too, but I've never used them for anything but weights.

I tried several different types of gloves for weightlifting and liked these the best. They are designed for women and are comfortable, light weight, fingerless, gel padded (though as mentioned, it's still not enough for my knobby hands so I add an extra gel pad in the palm), and easy to take on and off, as they have velcro at the wrist. I've found this to be an essential feature, as the ones without velcro can really be a pain to take on and off. Finally, they are cute -- at least I think so. If you are going to have Dupuytren's, you might as well do so stylishly!

I got the gloves on Amazon, and they were not expensive. They don't have wrist support, though -- it's not a feature I was looking for.

Thanks for starting this thread -- it's a great idea to share tips for products as well as healthcare.

Re: Good women's gloves?

My gloves are black, have breathable fabric on the back of the hand and padding on the palm. They are made by Avenir and are cycling gloves. I will look on Amazon for the ones mentioned in the previous thread. Nice looking gloves would be a bonus. I like the black gloves because I do use them for gardening, have been washed countless times and after 4 years are still usable. They are fingerless and close with velcro. I have not been able to find a good gardening glove that has enough padding and I have been looking for 4 years. The problem I have is if the gloves are thin enough for me to pull a weed out of the vegetable beds, then they don't have the padding I need in the palm. If I get the right amout of padding in the palm then they are too thick in the fingers.

I can find a good glove for using equipment that vibrates, but they gloves are for men and way too large for my hand.

When I went shopping for gloves I tried on probably 20 different styles. Some were too tight, too stiff, too long in the fingers. I believe it is best to just try different ones on and find the one that is the most confortable for you and has padding where you need it. Spanishbuddah gave me this link for tennis gloves and I love these gloves. I use them for more than just tennis.

Re: Good women's gloves?

Thanks Maddie & Lori, for your replies. I ended up with a pair of half finger length GoFit Protrainer gloves from Target for the gym, which seem to have enough padding to do the job for now. They have velcro wrist closures and a tab on the middle finger, which really helps take them off. Not machine washable unfortunately, but the Harbinger brands that were didn't fit well. Maddie, do you know which style of b-girl gloves you have? - I did look at some of those, but didn't see any with gel padding at the stores where I looked.

Thanks for mentioning the cycling gloves Lori - I did look at a sporting goods store, but I'll bet if I check out a bike shop I might find a better selection, and will take a look at Avenir, as well as the bionic gloves. Agree re trying them on - most of the gloves I found were either too tight, hard to get off, not well padded or just didn't fit right.

Still looking for the gardening gloves. I usually use several different types depending on what I'm doing. Thin grippy gloves for pulling weeds, but more padded for pruning or using hand tools. I also have thin hands and long fingers, so the men's are too big for me. I'll repost when I find some good gardening gloves.

Re: Good women's gloves?

Hi,
I have started with wearing cycling gloves for activities but generally, they are not padded enough. Actually, the more expensive they are, the less padding they seem to have. But i found ... Car mechanics gloves, and i really like them. The one i bought have a lot of padding on the palms but open fingers on the thumb, index and middle finger for more fine work. I wear them with thin coton gloves underneath. Sometimes, men have more choices.

Re: Good women's gloves?

Thank you I will try those. It is so frustrating having to wear men's gloves as I have such small hands!!!

Re: Good women's gloves?

You might like to check out weight lifting gloves. They come in all sizes, with and without fingers.

Re: Good women's gloves?

Glad to find this thread! I'm just more at ease when wearing protective gloves. We really have to baby our hands. My husband accuses me of becoming a fingerless, padded palm glove collector.

Wondering if anyone has found a glove to wear while using kitchen knives that they love. I have a pair of cut resistant microplane gloves but I still find them a bit too bulky.
