Heberden's nodes
Hi -
In my continuing efforts to completely freak myself out about my DD diagnosis both of my little fingers have been sore over the last couple of months. Based on what I've read it appears to be Heberden's Nodes ----- DIP joint has expanded laterally, a bit swollen and tender. I have a nodule on my PIP pinky joint that is roughly 20 degrees contracted.....
Are Heberden Nodes the same thing as a knuckle pad? I've read where knuckle pads many times indicate a more aggressive form of DD. Heberdens seems to be more in line with arthritis from what I've read.......is there a correlation between the DD and arthritis or just a coincidence??
Anyone have experience with this......is this a bad sign??

Re: Heberden's nodes
X Ray and/or blood tests will help diagnose any form of arthritis. I have not heard of an established link with DD, but many hand fingers conditions do seem to occur alongside DD. I've had Garrod's pads for 30+ years, and can't really say I have a more aggressive form of DD.
