Help on dupuytren's scar

Hello!

I was diagnosed with Dupuytren's syndrome and I did surgery on my both hands. The right hand was ok but the left one (a different doctor did the surgery) left a big scar as you can see on the photos attached.

Any of you can help me with some suggestions of what I can do to relief the pain and the sensation of burn?

I’ve tried many things (different kinds of creams, medicine, argil/clay and others) but none are making progress.

It’s very difficult to find literature about it and our local doctors know too little about this Syndrome (they just do the surgery and the consequences are entirely yours). The worst part is that you have to sign a paper agreeing with this!

So, I'm here trying to get some help from you!

Thank you,

Re: Help on dupuytren's scar

Welcome Daniel

Looks like an angry scar. Did you use any softening lotion whilst it was healing? I would ask a nurse about silicone gel or silicone sheets used for scar softening and removal. Maybe they will help. In the UK they can be purchased without prescription, maybe the same in Brazil? They work, but patience is needed over several months. I would hope, but don't really know, that it would also eventually help with pain, stiffness associated with the scar. If there is a deeper tissue or nerve problem they might not help, but still reduce the scar.

Best wishes

SB

Re: Help on dupuytren's scar

Hi I don't know if the product "Scar Soft' is available (registered trade mark) It is especially for scar tissue. From the photos it would appear you have developed keloids in the scar tissue. Try your chemist for similar products maybe from the US. Google Scar Soft for more information. Keep you hand elevated and flex you hand similar to playing a piano to improve the circulation.
