After RT my hand continued to improve for the next year. I have to say it was probably about 12 -18 months later that I started to really regain my strength back in that hand. After 1-2 years I was able to tightly grasp glasses, etc, without pain or aching. Today 4 years later my hand is almost like it was before DD. I still have to take care of it and not pound the palm, no hard hand shakes, no clapping, no vibrating activities, and no long term gripping or grasping. If I accidentially bend my finger with the cord backwards I will see stars. Other than that all is good.

that's great! So good to hear that it is a long term process (I expected to see quick results, I guess) Good thing to remember, take care to not put stress on the hand. I forget and continue to do things I shouldn't and then I pay for it later! It's hard to stop doing things especially when it's your dominant hand that's affected.

I have Cigna & the RT was covered but it was shockingly expensive. For 2 hands they billed $25,000, Cigna discounted it almost in 1/2, and I had pay my out of pocket max of $3,000. Ouch. And now I may be looking at repeating it on one hand. Might cost less (and be more fun) to visit Hamburg for a week.

Why are you looking at having RT again? What happen? When I had RT for one foot the cost was 11,000.00

Jolene - I may have some progression, but hoping the dr is right about it being RT side effects. Posted about it in the thread RT Update after 4 months.
