I'm a new forum user

Hi I'm new to the forum& I could do with some advice, I first got Dupuytrens about four years ago on the little finger of my right hand, it progressed slowly over that time until it was about 45 degrees, I had an operation ( fasciectomy ) on it in late January & about seven weeks later I noticed a nodule just below the middle joint on my index finger, same hand, & I think I can feel a couple of nodules on the palm as well, I was considering radiotherapy & I was wondering if this is the best way to go or if I would do better with one of the other options out there, oh & if radiotherapy didn't work could I still get NA or Xiapex, I don't think I'd consider surgery again, I think it's just made the Dupuytrens worse, any advice would be greatly appreciated,

Re: I'm a new forum user

I developed six new nodules within 2 months after my fasciectomy. radiotherapy stopped growth of all of them. later I developed another nodule on my right pinkie where RT wasn't that successful, maybe I was too late in having it irradiated. But yes, for me it worked well on the very new nodules.

Shouldn't be a problem having later needle fasciotomy, Xiapex or surgery after RT.

Re: I'm a new forum user

Hi Australia Calling. In 2007 I had radiotherapy in Germany after a repeat surgery on my right index finger. I had a number of nodules in my right hand develop and received Rt with 5 sessions of 3 Gy( total of 15 Gy. )The left hand received the 30Gy. as I developed a large nodule at the same time. I received a good outcome. I had NA a couple of years ago to correct 45degree contraction to the index finger on both hands. I 've just had NA here in Adelaide South Australia to both the index fingers which were at 45degree contraction with positive results. The timing for radiotherapy is critical with the window being in the active stage otherwise I believe it is not beneficial . I have had 15 odd surgeries including 4 large skin grafts . The RT did not impede the surgeon from performing NA. The healing recovery time may be extended as the result of the RT. My situation is quite complex.
Regards from down under.
