Is this Dupuytren"s

Hi there,
About a year ago I got a small fish spine in the palm of my hand while fishing. It was stuck in pretty good so I went to the local doctors and he gave me a local anesthetic and made a small incision and pulled it out.

Over the course of the last year I have got a hard nodule formed below my ring finger and this finger is slightly pulled down maybe 3mm when i hold my fingers out flat.

I decided to google hard lump on palm of hand one day and that was the first I had hear of Dupuytrens.

It seems the lump was associated with the fish spine and treatment. Does anyone know if this will progress or is is different to Dupuytrens disease ?

Hi piwikiwi. DD nodules and cords can be triggered by injury, but I don't think anyone can confirm just from the description or predict the evolution. But if your finger is already retracted it is high time to see a competent doctor and to consider little invasive treatment options such as radiotherapy and NA/PNF (see "treatment" in the top menu of this page). My advice: Run from any surgeon wanting to do invasive surgery. Make yourself knowledgeable as few doctors are and keep monitoring and documenting the evolution to be ready to make the best treatment decision for your case when it bothers you too much and you find the time to be right.
