Just has surgery/questions

Had surgery on 9/13/16 on PIP joint of little finger and across palm also. Didn't get complete straightening but can live with that. My issue is the swelling in the little finger and lack of feeling from tip to the first joint.

It's still early days. Some people can take up to a year before swelling, numbness and pain resolves. I would consult with your surgeon, to check the wound is healing ok with no infection, and ask about nerve damage, also your post-op physician or nurse for wound and scar management, and your OT for the right tendon glide and other hand exercises. Some people get comfort in rubbing or massage with various softening oils, hot wax dips and so on.

Re: Just has surgery/questions

Owen B.I had surgery on left ring finger about 4 years ago.Zig zag incision about 5 inches long and a good clean out job on finger. Feeling slowly came back. In 9 months I had 80% feeling in finger. It is still that way. No big deal . No DC return in that hand and finger is still straight. Have " fun " in rehab but important to go. I'm very happy with hand. Hope this helps.
