knuckle pad on thumb?

Although my rt. hand is the most obviously affected by DD, I also have minor cords and nodules in my left hand. Just a few days ago, I "sprouted" a hard lump on the knuckle of my left thumb. Reading about knuckle pads, it says they occur on the ring and middle fingers. There is no mention of knuckle pads on the thumb. Has anyone out there been diagnosed with knuckle pads on the thumbs? Thanks for responding.

Wishing you all the best,

Re: knuckle pad on thumb?

Hi Peacefulbird. Sorry for the delayed response but I haven't been here for a while. I have a large knuckle pad on my left thumb as well as five other fingers. I also have large painful nodules on the palm side of the PIP and DIP joints of most fingers of both hands. The knuckle pads start out painful but after a few years they get rock hard and no longer hurt. At least that's been my experience. They are always a precursor for PIP contracture for me. :(
