Re: Looking for advice post Xiaflex

I have had NA and Xiaflex work done by Dr. Keith Denkler in Larkspur starting in 2007 and most recently in November of this year. He has more experience than the rest of the doctors in the state combined and it was well worth the drive past Stanford to get to his offices. I would trust his judgment as to how best to proceed as he has experience with fasciectomies, Xiaflex, and NA, and can best decide which treatment or combination of treatments will yield the best results.

While I was in his office for the Xiaflex injections in November a patient came out who had a NA done on his hand and he had driven south from Washington to have Dr. Denkler do the work. He told me he was very glad he had made the extra effort based on his own results.

Thank you! I made an appointment with Dr Denkler on the 23rd. I'm looking forward to meeting him and getting his opinion on the best course of action. I will keep you posted.

Thanks again!
Ed

Re: Looking for advice post Xiaflex

Update:

On December 23rd I made a visit to see Dr Denkler. My finger was bent about 60 degrees. He spent about 10 min looking at my hand and has the best bed side manner I've ever seen. After talking about options we decided to do NA that day. We left the examining room and proceeded to the back where he a specialized room to perform the procedure.

He spent about 30 min and was able to get my finger to the point that I could get my hand flat!!

He bandaged me up, handed me instructions and a bag of bandages.

It's been 5 days and I can't believe how much better it is.

Of course I have no idea how long it will last but I can't tell you how happy I am with Dr Denkler and the results. I've watched all the YouTube videos on NA and can tell you that Dr Denklers procedure is much more complex.

Here's the kicker: my xiaflex cost at Stanford was over $30,000 and the NA with Dr Denkler, which so far has better results, was ~ $900!!!

I highly recommend Dr Denkler and his version of NA.

Ed

Re: Looking for advice post Xiaflex

I had NA performed by Dr. Denkler in November 2006 on a 90-95 degree PIP contracture. Not only has the NA held up thus far, I think it's actually straighter now than it was immediately post-procedure. If and when my other symptoms get to the point that I decide to "do something" about it, I'll likely be flying to see Dr. Denkler again.

Re: Looking for advice post Xiaflex

Hi All

I had a NA performed by Doctor Denkler about 2008 on my right hand and now the ring finger is curled to around 60 degrees.
so it's time for me to call Keith again. I was very happy with his work.

At the same time, the pinky on my left hand was also beginning to bend and he gave me a cortisone shot for it (Ouch that hurt)
but now it also is bent so I would like to see what treatment might be available for it.

It seems that Xiaflex is getting mixed reviews so I wonder if anyone has any suggestions concerning their experiences
Thanks
Chuck Seymour
