My experience with NA for my Dupuytren

I'm a 72 year old male with Dupuytren contracture on the ring finger of my left hand. I had an appointment with Dr. Matthew Scott at the Dupuytren Center in Chicago on Saturday 7/22/17. The NA procedure took approximately 30 minutes and was relatively painless. Nothing more than a needle prick. Went out to dinner right after the procedure. I would estimate that I now have 85% to 90% flexibility in my finger. After one week almost all of the tightness is gone. I am very happy with the outcome and the total experience. If you are considering having this procedure done I would highly recommend Dr. Scott.

Thanks for sharing this information. Let's hope your result lasts for a good while. Have you considered overnight splinting?

Agree get and wear a splint.... keep that finger straight ,,,avoid pulling..and vibration..wear gloves while mowing,working,etc.. good luck !..You may find that in time the finger will improve even more.. Mine did after N.A.

Re: My experience with NA for my Dupuytren

I just had NA with lypo injections (my own belly fat) by Dr. Roger Khouri, Miami Hand Center. After one traditional surgery on my left pinkie 15 years ago, and three Xiaflex to my left hand and a double to my right, I was looking for something new. The Xiaflex is PAINFUL, expensive and in my personal opinion and experience, not effective over the long term. Dr. Khouri operated on my right hand, with a 45-degree bend in ring and pinkie fingers 8 days ago. The splint came off today. The hand is FLAT!. No scar. just some minor discomfort. Night splint for 2 months, daily hand exercise and I'll report how it goes. For me and my really bad left hand - 90 to 120 degrees in three fingers and thumb, NA with lypo on this hand scheduled for September. So far so good. Please do your research and check out Dr. Roger Khouri. He is on YouTube in 2010 with a great explanation of the procedure and results.

Re: My experience with NA for my Dupuytren

Hi Geoff, thanks for sharing. With your history of recurrence I would consider wearing the night splint beyond the two months recommended to you in the case that at any time in the future you feel tension again in the finger. There are quite comfortable glove solutions and one of them has been working for me for three years now. All the best,

Stef
