NA

Can you have a na done on your hand after radiation? Its not because the radiation didn't work because it did work. There is a cord i would like to get rid of that is huge.

Re: NA

I have seen discussion that surgery is not ruled out after RT, although concerns have been stated that healing may be impacted. So I guess this would apply to NA.

But, and I have no personal experience, I did not think NA removes cords? I thought it was used to weaken and 'cut' cords to allow straightening of contracted fingers. Maybe a NA specialist can advise.

Surgery and radiotherapy ?

I have seen publications in which surgery was stated as possible and successful after failing radiotherapy ...
It's the hand surgeons who state they cannot do surgery after radiotherapy, but in the literature only few data have been published with regard to this point:

Re: NA

I know i can't have it removed and i have no contraction. My radiation worked and would advise everyone to do it. I would never have surgery. Just would like the cord pop so it would quit burning in the palm of hand. Thanks everyone.

Re: NA

Short answer - from my understanding, yes, you can have NA after RT.

I had a consultation in March with Dr. Denkler about my hand that I had RT on. I had NA about 2 years ago that released cords, then RT about 4 months later that stopped the progression of nodules in the radiated area. RT typically does not work on cords. It works on nodules before they become cords. I have some cords that showed up without nodules. I have an appointment in July for a 2nd NA on the same hand to have my cords released. My palm is cupping, but only one finger (my pinky) has slight bending at or just above the metacarpal joint and that seems to be affected by the cords coming from my palm.

I have one cord that Dr. Denkler thinks might be best to have Ziaflex on. He doesn't do NA and Xiaflex at the same time, so I'm going with the NA first.

Re: NA

If i decided to have NA on 1 of my cords i'm a little worried that it might reactivate DD. Don't want to do NA if it could reactivate. I had such good luck with radiation i just don't want to blow it but would love to get rid of this huge cord in middle of palm.
