Needle aponeurotomy

I'd like to provide a small report since my right hand ring finger stage 3 DC was treated here in Paris about one month ago.

The session was painless and I was back in my office one hour later with no after effects whatsoever. Now, one month later, I report on treatment to my left hand, three days ago, which was badly affected with stage 4 DC. Due to the severity, treatment will continue over two sessions with the palm and index finger now completed and a return visit to complete the remaining three fingers in December.

Once again, I returned to my office directly after treatment and indeed, fly down to Spain this evening for a weekend break. I will remove the dressing tomorrow and wait for further healing process until December.

My right hand is very nearly completely flat with very, very small knuckle pain on occasion. However, the freedom I now have to dig things out of my pocket, use a mouse and shake hands properly to name a few, are phenomenal. Even with a dressing, my left hand is now already feeling more relaxed and I can only look forward to my next visit when I know I will be able to 'flat hand' anything I wish in time for Xmas.

Anyone on the verge of wondering if needle aponeurotomy is the way to go, don't hesitate and go for it. So the DC may return in 5/6 years.....so what the hell because the relief and added flexibility i'm having right now is providing me with such pleasure I'd do it again if it returns even next year!!

Of importance is the practitioner who treats the contractures, the doctor who treats me has over 14,000 so called operations under his belt which is a great confidence boost.

I am 73 years old.

Re: Needle aponeurotomy

Hello crate,

thank you for this detailed report. Having had NA myself 5 months ago, I tend to agree with you. May I ask where your are located? Are you French or why did you go to France for NA? Because of the extensive experience that you mentioned?

Just a minor addition: the younger you are the faster recurrence may kick in http://www.dupuytren-online.info/NA_side_effects.html. For some recurrence may start within a year or earlier.

Wolfgang.

Hey Wolfgang,
Thanks for your response and your agreement. It's a no questions treatment you must agree.

I'm actually working in Paris is the reason I'm here, yea, even at my age!
