Newbie
Good Day, everyone! I am new here, so Here's my Dupuytren's background..., I am 65 years old, left handed Dupuytrens of the ring finger. Started showing up about 6-7 years ago. I am a Certified Orthotic and Prosthetic Technician, and I teach O and P at a local college. I am intimately involved in, and want to make some progress with the Dupuytrens Disorder. A professor I know also has the disease, but was more progressed. He had surgery on his hand, and the result was miserable. I don't know wether the result was due to the disorder, or a poor surgery.
I have a question... How many people here have played guitar, or still do? I am looking for a cause and effect relationship? The traumatic causation link.

Re: Newbie
I do. Early days but in my strumming hand(right). Haven't heard of Any players out there complaining about DD. Good luck.

Re: Newbie
Hi Leona
First I hope you find the information you need on or from our website, to help you choose your own path for treatment.
I don't play guitar but do play piano. In fact DD started within a year of me starting piano, but that may be just coincidence. We get quite a few, self-selected, reports on here from people with DD who are wondering about a link to their specific activity, often rowing, climbing, weight-lifting, guitar, etc . There are papers that suggest a link between trauma and DD.
Best wishes SB

Re: Newbie
I played guitar very heavily in my teens and early 20s about 30 years before DD appeared.
I've lifted weights for 35 years and think that could be a factor. Seems like people on this forum state they work out.
