I have just been diagnosed with dupes. I have a large nodule to base of index finger. Is this unusual because the literature normally only mentions last three fingers. I have lesions on palm on the last three but not on index only the large nodular lump. Can anybody comment on this for me.

I also have a large nodule in the palm at the base of the index finger. I think you can get nodules just about anywhere on fingers and palm, but generally if you get cords that progress to contracture then it is mostly the pinkie and ring, but in fact any could be affected. Since you have just been diagnosed, don't panic, for the majority it progresses very slowly and not to a contracture.

I have DD in both hands. My worst contracture is pinkie of RH. Second and third worst contractures are middle and index fingers of LH. DD does seem to affect index and middle fingers less frequently. You're now a member of a special club :-).
