when I put my hand up I get horrid shoulder pain in my left shoulder......is this because of my lumps on my left hand....
( dupuytrens ) im booked into aspire hospital on the 7th dec to remove this lump...
in total I have had 4 opps now and its gonna be 2 opps on each hand on that day...
is the shoulder problem related to this..

You don't say what the lumps have been diagnosed as being? If it's Dupuytren's it is not normal to have surgery to remove Dupuytren's nodules. Surgery may be used to straighten a contracture, but there are alternative less invasive and less risky treatment choices before surgery.
There is a link between Dupuytren's and other fibrosis conditions, one of which is frozen shoulder. Pain in the shoulder raising the hand could be due to lots of things, including tendonitis, rotator cuff tear, arthritis, frozen shoulder, impingement, etc, you need a shoulder doc to give a diagnosis.

Frozen shoulder
I have been diagnosed with frozen shoulder. Fibrous tissue effecting movement. Very painful. I have seen a doctor who has suggested Xiaflex for the shoulder, built up fibrous tissue around the facia of the tendon. However since I had a severe reaction to xiaflex on my fingers he has been very hesitant to do the injection again. Any others on this forum experienced a severe reaction to the proteins in the the Xiaflex.
I know this is a old post. Will start a new one if no one responds to this one. I haven't read of anyone before having a shoulder issue. So thought I would comment that Xiaflex is approved by the FDA in US for frozen shoulder which is a protein that dissolves collagen build up fibrous tissue preventing shoulder movement.

I don't think Xiaflex is approved in Europe yet for frozen shoulder. I know two people who have had it, one had steroid shots and quite painful physio, Neil Asher technique I think, the other continued to play tennis throughout, despite the pain, and instead of physio although serving was reduced to underarm. In both cases maintaining some movement seemed to be the thing to do. But then again, I heard third hand of someone who just waited it out, and two years later the movement was back. Maybe your doc can reserve a drop or two from a vial after treating a Dups patient and do an allergy skin test to see if you're still hypersensitive. I think in your case I'd start with the steroid and physio.

I recently had a somewhat "frozen" left shoulder. My doc said that in most cases the stifness goes away within 2 years and without treatment. I wanted Treatment and he gave me a steroid shot into the shoulder. The pain went away and my shoulder is back to normal. Steroids can do damage if applied too often bit if have shoulder problems only every 10-15 years, so I don't mind. I am not sure whether Xiaflex can do any better. Time will tell.

I have had frozen shoulder 2x. It is extremely painful. The Only thing that worked for me was Physical Therapy. But
you also might want to investigate Rolfing treatments. It is massage of the connective tissue. The first time I had frozen
shoulder, it appeared for no reason, I didn't even know what it was. I tried a few acupuncture tx, then switched to physical therapy. it lasted about 5 months. The 2nd time, I fell and I noticed my shoulder was somewhat sore (not the same shoulder)
when I could reach up to wash my hair, I knew what I had. I did physical therapy again. Best thing to do is to Keep that
shoulder moving at all costs. The second time it lasted from June to December... ugh..

I had a frozen shoulder and I could not go over my head and touch my ear. I received B12 shots in the soft tissue and It took care of the frozen shoulder. Dr. located in Houston did the injections.

Very interesting about the B12 shots. How many did you have.? I will remember that. I wonder if that would help w/ the
dupuytren. Is it due to a b12 deficiency?
