R/T - Ultrasound or Mri Or CT
Do I understand correctly from other posts that having a diagnostic ultrasound of my hands would do a better job in identifying and mapping out nodules and cords in my hands, instead of an MRI and Cat scan, before I do R/T. My Doctor is doing a MRI & Cat scan next week and combining the two for an R/T treatment plan. He is going to use the 5day,3grays per day treatment method, then wait I guess 8 to 10 weeks before doing it again.
Also, is there an issue and/or concerns in how deep he should be setting the radiation machine? I do not know these types of specs? I am just assuming he knows what he is doing.........
Also: why don't people just get the whole hand done just in case there may be more stuff forming that know one knows about.
thanks

Re: R/T - Ultrasound or Mri Or CT
I did get the whole palm and up to the PIP joint on all fingers. That is why I would wonder why the CT scan or MRI. They won't change anything about the RT field. The mapping of the nodules and cords is a waste of time if the whole area is irradiated. I guess as long as someone will pay the money, they will do about anything.

Re: R/T - Ultrasound or Mri Or CT
Did you have any side affects from having your whole hand done? How long ago did you have it done. What R/T protocol was used?
What about radiation burns? Is that a concern?
And for that matter, what about cancer developing later?

Re: R/T - Ultrasound or Mri Or CT
I had 3Gy X 5 with an interval of 11 weeks then again 3Gy X 5. I had zero side effects, perhaps a little redness for a day or two. But, I couldn't feel anything different.
