Recovery

I underwent surgery one month ago to straighten my bent fingers. I'm glad I did it, but the surgery was much more than I really expected. I've been having therapy 3 times per week and am making progress. My left hand is also affected along with both feet. I don't plan on surgery to correct these issues anytime soon.

Re: Recovery

Hi Sarge. Welcome. Glad to hear you're progressing well after the surgery. Are you considering one of the less invasive treatments for your other hand when /if it seems necessary? I'm lucky so far--symptoms of Dupuytren's, but no real contracture yet. Have you been dealing with Dupuytren's for a long time?

Re: Recovery

I had surgery myself about 15 years ago and from my experience 1 month of recovery is not very long. You might possibly need another one or two months, so no need to worry, everything seems to be working out well!

Re: Recovery

Hi Sarge, I had the same experience. There's a good chance that over time your fingers will be good and you'll be happy you did the treatment. I had underlying issues with my knuckle that got worse as the finger got better.

If you want to treat your other hand, you might look at the Xiaflex injections. I also had those and they were great. The finger wasn't immobilized afterwards, which eliminated much (but not all) of the PT requirements.
