Going for Radiotherapy in Essen 24th-30th March-but no accomodation available in the hospital(Alfed Krupps) .Has anyone out there got a recommendation for good budget accomodation near the hospital????

Hi Wolfgang-the hospital was unable to book me in the usual excellent accomodation because it was fully booked-some big event in Essen the week of 24th March.They have given me a couple of leads ,but haven`t heard back from them yet.I`m now contacting tourist information.I just wandered if any former or current patients had a bit more local knowledge I could use for getting accomodation.Part of the value of this sort of forum

Good luck with the website, that's excellent. It will be really helpful to educate GPs in modern treatment possibilities as well as being a good source of information for patients.

It would be helpful to have a section for medical providers with sections for each treatment where contact info can be readily found and amended (like I could use an email contact for the Montreal hospitals providing radiation treatment).

Travel and accommodation recommendations would also be posted as forum members learn of new options and places.

For me being in the USA I would prefer to spend 1100 euros and spend a couple of weeks in Germany than pay $8000 or more in the USA, regardless of whether it is paid for by insurance. I dislike supporting a highly dysfunctional health care system.
