Surgeon wanted in UK
Can anyone tell me how to find a competent surgeon in the UK? I have health insurance, my GP has said he will write a referral letter and I can take it to who I want but unsure of how to go about finding the best person to treat DC? also how do I get a splint to wear at night?
Thanks

Re: Surgeon wanted in UK
Hi Mary
I am not sure where you live, but my surgeon is Andrew Watts. He works in Barnstaple and Exeter. He has a web site if you google his name and he is is apparently seen as a top surgeon. I had surgery on 25th Feb and all seems to be doing well. The follow up care in plastics rehab supply different splints as things improve. I opted for [you have a choice] general anaesthetic and stayed overnight in Exeter R D and E hospital. Very good care.
I hope this helps.
Chrissie

Re: Surgeon wanted in UK
Hi Mary,
Mr David Warwick is near(ish) to you... in either Southampton or Winchester; his contact details are: Personal Assistant: Rachel Hicks on 0845 4505 007 or 023 80 258422 or fax 023 8025 8446 or rachel@handsurgery.co.uk
Mr Harry Belcher is at the Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead - though it's a bit of a trek for you!
No matter who you choose in the end I hope all goes well for you! :)

Re: Surgeon wanted in UK
Hi Mary
I can strongly recommend Mr Tim Cresswell at Nuffield, Derby. Can't speak highly enough of him and the whole team at Nuffield.
Had the surgery yesterday and going to have a night splint made and fitted on Tuesday. Although private treatment is carried out at Nuffield, the team are all part of the renowned Pulvertaft Hand Centre which is based in the Royal Derby Hospital.
Let me know if you want any more information about my experience.
Best regards
Steve
