Treatment decision
I have a contracture of my left pinky that has slowly developed over 15 years. Trying to decide between surgery and collagenace treatment. Just reading about Needle Aponeurotomy. Has anyone had that procedure in the Boston area?

Re: Treatment decision
JSinger: I have a contracture of my left pinky that has slowly developed over 15 years. Trying to decide between surgery and collagenace treatment.
I Had surgery with a slight pinky contracture only. After surgery all 3 fingers were contracted to a 40' curve and the pinky was slammed shut tighter than a drum. It would not open. As well as all the node in my palm had enlarged. I later learned the hard way that surgery is the last resort oi all else fails. I had the injection and it opened my pinky thank God! Now my palm and other fingers reacted to the surgery and slowly losing grip strength. I wear a FIXXGLOVE splint every night to prevent the fingers from closing during sleep. In my experience and as the forum on DD expresses the Xiaflex or NA Is the best treatment at the stage your finger is in. Good luck. I was very happy with the results from the injection hope you give it a try. I am 5-6 months out now from the Xiaflex injection also look it up online for more info.
Kind regards. Cherise

Re: Treatment decision
Thank you very much. The xiaflex treatment sounded painful when my hand doctor described it. I have been afraid to schedule it. I think that I will now.
