Certainly the cost of liability insurance has to be a factor. Conventional surgery has all sorts of risks and bad outcomes are possible. The hand is easily infected - I was told this after surgery. NA is probably in a whole different category with respect to liability.
It is hard to fathom why this isn't taking off like a rocket, unless you just attribute it to a 'not invented here' attitude. Years ago I tried to describe the NA procedure to the the surgeon who worke on my hands - he was openly scornfull of "european" techniques and used the term "cavelier" to describe them.

True: Even our beloved Eaton is less than impressed with French record keeping of their clinical data. All US CHS *do* look down their noses at the "very casual" approach taken by the French, at least by American standards (And the French must think we are Anal).
So, only data like Eaton is gathering will hold sway in this court. And, it's not even worth publishing until he has *five* years of data showing rates of recurrence. So, not wanting to wait until then, he's going to take three years worth and do a little Show and Tell at the annual meeting of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand in the fall of 2006. He should have 2,000 procedures by then.
One would think that after *that*, we'll have your Rocket. So far, Zero nerve damage, minimal side effects. (Hey CHSs, 'ya still think picking up a *knife* is the very best place to start?)

Hi C,
We almost got our hopes up there but I got fed up waiting for your posting so I emailed St Thomas' The procedures on the 21 October were for trigger finger. Shame but we will keep searching.

Is it possible to get needle fasciotomy done privately in th UK? If so, we'd be grqteful for any info.
