acetyl-l-carnitine
Several of us are trying the supplement acetyl-l-carnitine either by itself or along with other therapies. It has proven beneficial for Peyrones disease, a condition related to dups. (For more info. see previous topic: colchincine and acetyl-l-carnitine...) |

Acetyl-L-Carnitine(and Vitamin K!)
I started The Rosedale Diet, and he suggests a number of supplements, including L-Carnitine, or Acetyl-L-Carnitine, and Vitamin K. I went from 100 Mcg per day, Vitamin K, to 2000 mcg per day, and noticed an amazing improvement in pain, and movement in my left hand, my main trouble area, in two to three days. Get Vitamin K-1, not Vitamin K-2, as there can be some toxicity with the latter, but check the web for references for Vitamin K, and connective tissue disorders. Quite encouraging! |

L-Carnitine
L-Carnitine is an amino acidlike compound related to choline. It may assist in the conversion of choline into acetylcholine, one of the body's key neurotransmitters. L-Carnitine plays an essential role in fat metabolism, by transporting long-chain fatty acids into the Mitochondria; which act like power houses and make energy available to the body of the cell. L-Carnitine plays an important role in energy production by chaperoning activated fatty acids (Acyl-CoA) into the Mitochondrial matrix for metabolism. L-Carnitine plays a fundamental role in energy production, and it is used to support all bodily functions that require high levels of energy.
