Alternative medicines
Has anybody tried this product from this oragnization called DCI in Illinois?
I was just recently diagnosed with Dupuytren and I am between stage 0 and 1 without pain on my right hand.
I am a firm believer of alternative medicine, but the price seems very high. Thanks for any advice.

Here is the website: www.dupuytrens-contracture.com
It offers treatment packages, including an accu pens, magnets, vitamins, enzymes, etc.
After reviewing this information a spoke to an herbalist here in Toronto and he gave me list of herbs to take internally and apply externally. I will probably try that first.

Upon researching it there is a website: www.eatonhand.com.
It explains the stages of the disease. Hope that will help you.

Haven't tried these but thanks for the heads-up. I may ask around about some of the ideas.
Recently, I started cooking with Tumeric--putting it on roasted vegetables, sprinkling it on chicken, eliminated aspartame in diet soda and started drinking oolong tea. The dupuytens in both hands and the nodules in my feet feel less sore and seem to be less inflamed. Noticeably so. Started trying to eat more toward mediterranean diet occasionally too. Also have a frozen shoulder, started massage therapy which is helping the shoulder.

Hi Susan,
Turmeric is part of the ginger family and adding that to your diet will probably make a difference as well. I was just diagnosed a few days ago and only my right hand and little finger are affected. I don't want it to get any worse.
I live in Toronto and contacted an herbalist. Here is what he recommended:
"This kind of tissue thickening will probably be helped with PABA and bromelain with some herbs to break down the scar tissue. A short list of herbs to help with connective tissue regeneration would be black walnut,lobelia, marshmallow, mullein, skullcap,gravel root, cranesbill, white oak ,wormwood. This is drunk as an infusion or taken in alcohol tinctures.
This combination is also used as a cream for topical application.
I have no personal experience of dealing with this condition specifically but i have used the above mentioned herbs as a very effective formula in repairing all kinds of injuries.
I hope you will use this programme for at least 6 months to a year before you consider any corrective surgical procedures."
I am going there today and will begin this treatment.

Good luck with your treatment : After 6 months you should evaluate your physical condition and
your money purse (as medication costs ....). If there is any sign of progression (# nodules /cords)
then consider radiation therapy as an early and long-term preventive measure before contraction
starts to occur. Find an experienced doctor who helps you to exactly stage the disease ....

Hi-
just read the post on alternative medicine-a method i tried for 2 years without success-over 60 acupunture treatments on my left hand at £30+ per treatment-backed up by dietary measures and supplements.In the end,i contacted Heinrich Seegenschmiedt then in Essen and underwent radiotherapy on my left hand.That worked and the contracture on my left hand has stabalised-allowing me to continue my profession as a professional musician.One alternative therapy that did work and after 3 treatments was the Niel Asher therapy for a frozen shoulder administered by a local Osteopath-painful but effective with no reccurence after 2 years.I would like to know if anyone does better than me trying an alternative approach to dups>?So far.it seems to me it`s only N/A and Radiotherapy that do the job with the minimum of invasive side effects to the hand..
