Has anyone coordinated radiation therapy in another country?

Hello there,

Was wondering how those who sought out treatment in another country coordinated their therapy? I'm in the states and am looking for a clinic in Germany. I developed Dupuytren's after wrist trauma and it is tied up in a workman's comp case, hence my regular health insurance will not pay. It has been nearly a year that I still have not received my requested radiation therapy with workmans comp (even though I have a Dr from UCSF and my surgeon and attorneys are involved). Anyway, I've read that some people have sought out treatment in other countries, rather than the U.S, and that they entire ordeal was cheaper than actually staying in the states and using their insurance. Any info would be appreciated as this entire process seems so daunting...

Re: Has anyone coordinated radiation therapy in another country?

Hello Haley

First did you see the stories from people who have made the trip to Germany in the Personal Experiences page? http://www.dupuytren-online.info/dupuytr...xperiences.html

Also whilst waiting to see if you get a more direct response, there are quite a few old threads in the forum where people reported on their experience. Try using the search bar.

The cost of the treatment is roughly €500 (that's Euro's) for one round of 5x3Gy and you need two rounds. Add to that the cost of travel, airfare, hotel, meals, extras. Some people make it a holiday as Hamburg in Spring, Summer, Autumn is very nice.

Best wishes
SB

Hi Haley,

I was treated for Ledderhose by Prof. Seegenshmiedt in Hamburg. I'm very happy with my results and the price of treatment was a fraction of what it is in the US. Your first step would be to contact the Prof. by email. His address is under the Treatment tab - Radiotherapy. He will ask you some questions about your symptoms to determine if you are a good candidate for RT. Hamburg is a lovely city and easy to get around. Good luck!

Gloria
