So sorry to hear of your new diagnosis. This must be very scarey for you but fancy you playing golf a day after your bone marrow biopsy. I have leukaemia and after a BMB I am in extreme pain for a couple of weeks. I am having my final round of RT treatments for my dupuytrens at the moment and to add to the mix last Monday I was dx with MD in my eyes. My thoughts are with you and I am sending you big cyber hugs.

I was diagnosed with leukaemia (CLL) 6 years ago and am doing okay although have lots of problems as an off shoot of having a very compromised immune system. As well as the CLL I have 3 auto-immune diseases, the dupuytrens and now macular degeneration. I know of a couple of people who have developed myelodysplasia after chemo and are doing okay. I hope they are giving you spooky juice :) before your bmb's. One wonders about the radiation we've had on our hands and what effect it will have but who knows and it's a risk I for one am prepared to take. I am 61 and the MD is early stage. Seems I have inherited all my Dad's diseases and then some. He was blind with MD, had dupuytrens and passed away a year ago from complications of leukaemia. Standing in the wrong line I guess.

It is interesting. I have had zero health problems except for Dupuytren's and now this. I have been diagnosed as right on the border between Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) and Myelodysplasia (MDS). It most likely has little (or zero) to do with finishing RT for Dupuytren's in January of this year. Most likely it is a coincidence. I just mentioned it in case someone else had a similar experience. Then it might be worth another glance.

This could just be a coincidence, but I will put it out here.

As some of you might remember, I was diagnosed with MDS/AML (Acute Myeloid Luekemia) November 2013. I have never been admitted to a hospital before that time and the only ailment that I have had was Dupuytren's. I have been healthy my entire life and currently my father is 96 years old and has never had a prescription. I have had routine blood tests (CBC) from my primary care physician every 6 months. The interesting information is that they have backtracked and graphed my blood tests. Everything was completely normal for years (linear, level and normal on the graphs) until right after my first round (15 Gy) of radiation for Dupuytren's. Platelets dropped below normal range within a month. Following the second round (15 Gy additional) the numbers for blood platelets, red and white cells "dropped off the table".

Again, this could be a coincidence, and probably is, but the timing of this couldn't have been closer. The AML diagnosis is pretty serious if you are not aware. I hope to make it another year. Should be getting a bone marrow transplant within 6 months. It almost seems trivial now about some of the decisions and worries about the different Dupuytren's procedures.

P.S. I have really enjoyed being on this forum for several years and really have appreciated all of the comments. I will stick with it as long as possible.

P.S. #2, I haven't smoked one cigarette in my life and I still haven't had my first beer. And my reasons had nothing to do with religion. So much for clean living.
