Our policy on privacy and confidentiality

The purpose of this web site is not to collect data but inform patients and doctors about therapies of Morbus Dupuytren (Dupuytren's contracture) and Morbus Ledderhose. Nevertheless our site collects limited data in below areas:

Forum:

- people registering in our forum are stored by user name, password, and e-mail address. The e-mail address is occasionally used by the forum administrator for sending news letters. Users can select "no newsletter" in their personal forum set-up.

- e-mail addresses of users are visible only to the adminsitrator(s) of our forum. Adminsitrators will not provide those e-mail addresses to anyone else.

- registred forum users can send e-mails to other registered forum users but without seeing their e-mail address.

- the number of visitors of our forum is stored and displayed. The user names of visiting registered users are displayed while they are online.

- users can allow our forum software to store a cookie for facilitating logins. This is optional.

- if users decide to publish some of their private data, like their personal e-mail address, in our forum, the forum administrator will not interfere but will also not encourage this. Users aree free to describe their medical situation but should be aware that our forum is public; anyone can read it.

List of clinics:

This site lists clinics that provide specific therapies of Morbus Dupuytren and/or Morbus Ledderhose. This is a service to patients because such clinics are often difficult to find. We list those clinics only if the clinic or medical doctor has agreed to publiishing their contact data on our web site.

Research projects:

- Dupuytren Society may participate in projects collecting data on disease, therapies or patients. The participating clinics will be clearly stated. Users who provide data to Dupuytren Society are assured that their data will only be shared with participating clinics. Results, if published, will not disclose private data but results in statistical form only.

E-mails:

Users are encouraged to ask questions in the forum rather than sending e-mails directly to Dupuytren Society. E-mails sent to Dupuytren Society will be kept confidential and will be read by members of Dupuytren Society only on a need to know basis.

General:

The managers of this site will strictly abide to confidentiality and security guidelines as set forth by the laws of Germany. Dupuytren Society will not disclose user specific data, private or medical, to other entities, specifcially Dupuytren Society will not provide user data to third parties for advertizing purposes.
