Hi bellarina

I sent an email to dr Borg yesterday and he emailed me back just now which is great be good to find out if anyone here has been treated by him and how it all went.

Hi to my dups friends over the ditch......

Be sure to ask the Dr. How many treatments he has completed........how he establishes if you are an RT candidate........what protocol he uses.....what area of the hand is treated.......and most importantly......has he any follow up data to establish the succes or otherwise of the treatment.....

Best of luck to you with treatment choices.....

Gazza

Re: Australia is calling for the first time

Sorry guys; I can't help as I haven't had RT at all and haven't had NA in Australia.

I have found little support in Australia for anything other than surgery so anyone doing RT or NA down here will be new. I strongly suggest that you don't want to be a guinea pig for someone who is learning. Besides the cost of these procedures in Europe is cheap and, if you aren't fussy how you fly, you can pay for the air ticket on the saving.

Also when thinking about surgery I bumped into an acquaintance last night who has DD. Last year he had surgery for the 4th time. He said that this time it took ten months to get back full use of his hand and he already has new lumps and deformation in the middle of that hand.

I'm sure you would enjoy a European holiday

Re: Australia is calling for the first time

Just keep in mind that RT in Germany would mean two European holidays at least. There are two RT sessions which are spaced three months apart. Some centres will communicate over email using photos etc. so that you can establish with some certainty if you are ready for treatment when you arrive.

Re: Australia is calling for the first time

Hi fellow Aussies, I live in Adelaide and approached Dr Borg to list on this site after having had Radiotherapy for Dupuytrens and Ledderhose by Prof.Seegenschmiedt then in Essen Germany in 2007. I met with Dr Borg who told me he had had dealings with Prof. Seegenschmiedt. I lent him the book written by Prof. Seegenschmiedt and others -Radiotherapy Treatment of no malignant disorders - whch he later purchased (200 euros ) He advised he had used the protocol used by the Prof. both for the treatment of Ledderhose and Dupuytrens with good results . Google Dr Borg Adelaide and view Adelaide Radiotherapy Centre . One will see his qualifications at Royal Adelaide Hospital and Adelaide University . Dr Borg lists that he has an interest in the treatment amongst may others the treatment of Benign disorders. I believe that he would be well qualified. I hope this helps.
