Another curious systemic thing about the disease is that suppressing it by radiation therapy in one hand can cause disease activity to subside in the other untreated hand, and in an untreated foot as well. That happened to me two years ago.
Maybe that's the converse of disease flaring up in one limb after another limb had trauma such as surgery?
I wonder if the same systemic mechanism that's turned on by trauma is sometimes turned off by radiotherapy.

An interesting thought re surgery causing an activation or flareup of DC (Collagen buildup) I had no sign at all of Dupuytrens until a number of months after a crush injury of my right hand little finger..there was very little broken skin but the middle joint was partially crushed..The joint healed..but nodes appeared in the r/hand over some months and after about 1 year the finger started to contract. Any trauma to my knowledge can possibly cause other side effects. From the 4 people I have actually met over here in Australia..who have had surgery for DC.. have all (bar 1 of them) have had a flare up some time after surgery..in the same hand or the opposite hand. Has anyone here researched BROMELIAN a chemical derived from pineapples and found in many plants from the Bromeliaceae Family of plants...from what I have researched BROMELIAN is thought to greatly reduce the buildup of collagen .and aides in healing..food for thought...
