Coffee??? Has anyone given it up and seen a difference?

Hi all,

My Ledderhose and to some extent my hands are "active". I am looking for ways to reduce the "growth" during this period. Has anyone given up coffee and seen a difference? (I have already given up alcohol about a year ago after being on one drink a month for about two years.)

So I have three double espressos a day. (A bit much???) Thinking of dropping them and taking NAC for a couple of weeks to see if it stops the growth and accompanying pain.

Thanks for all feedback,
MNS

I wouldn't think that espresso makes much of a difference. Taking NAC for a couple of weeks most likely makes no difference. When a few patients tried it in 2007 http://www.dupuytren-online.info/researc..._dupuytren.html it took 3-5 months until a slight effect was observed by some of the participants.

wish it was that easy ..this is my history ;

no meat ..no poultry ..30+ years ...non smoker non drinker ... no family history ...I do drink coffee and green tea..

still have D.C. I feel anything and everything can cause this disease ..

Although I firmly believe that vibration from tools ..driving etc . and have smaller hands may predispose one from falling victim.

Best cure/treatment ...Dr. Eaton ... but that is no longer an option..

What mechanism do you believe would cause abstaining from coffee to provide a benefit to DD?

Coffee is extremely healthful (if you're not sensitive to caffeine, and not pouring copious amounts of sugar or artificial creamer in it). There is new scientific literature coming out all the time that supports its cognitive benefits as well.

Dr. Eaton even mentions that coffee and tea could theoretically provide a benefit to DD here: http://dupuytrenfoundation.blogspot.com/...les-but-no.html

Drink up!
