Fat fingers?

I've been reading the debate on side effects of RT for DC - but nobody has mentioned 'fat fingers'.

I had RT on my left hand in December 2011 and have recently found that none of the rings that I used to wear on that hand will now go over my knuckles. Traditionally my right hand fingers were a bit larger than those on my left but even the rings for my right hand will not now fit my left hand fingers.

Has anyone else found this as a side effect? If so, did your fingers go back down in size eventually? Or do I need some bigger rings? Is it simply arthritis setting in? WEhy only on the treated hand?

No other lasting side effects from the treatment but not due to go back to hospital until November when we may decide to do the right hand also. This was all new stuff for my radiologist in the UK - but it was free on the NHS! Ring finger has not bent any further forward since treatment but nodules in palm are still a slight aggravation.

Thanks!

Re: Fat fingers?

Hello,

I would suspect swelling, as swelling is typically common with Dupuytren's. I have big swelling going on with my left hand and middle finger, and I have had nothing done for my Dupuytren's yet. I find that the swelling (For me) tends to be worse at night. Try to keep tract if the condition worsens at night, versus the day. I hope this helps with your concerns, and I wish you all the best, Metzie.
