Hi all.. Skippy's back ..

Gd'evenin all ...
Its about 10 pm here in Nthn NSW Australia n nearly time for me to go horizontal n get some zzz's.
Its been a long time since I posted on here .. n a lot of water has gone under the bridge !
To reiterate I was diagnosed with DC of both hands some 3 years ago ... n to cut it short I gave up my building work n decided to carry on with whatever work I could do .
My right hand has has about 65 deg. bend in my pinkie n my right ring finger is following it down with about 25 deg. bend .I have large growths in this hand reaching down to the base of my palm at my wrist also nodules in the webbing between thumb and pointer about the size of large peas n more growths in and under my middle and pointer.
My left hand has similar growths now but only contracture of about 25 deg's in my ring finger but the nodules in my webbing between thumb n pointer on my left hand are quite large n painful.
I was given no option by my local specialist .. besides open fasciotomy .... and did not have Xiaflex inj. due to cost and relatively poor, lasting results... I was due to have a go at trying needle aponurotomy this year in about April this year in Sydney .... but in early March this year I was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Lukaemia .... which has thrown a bloody big spanner in the works .n everything stopped n changed 4 me.. Ive had to stop all work etc
I have been receiving Chemotherapy in R.N.S.H. in Sydney for 5 mnths on n off now (the nurses there are wonderful ... (they call me "the bad boy from the nthn rivers " 😈😊) ... Ive just had my 3rd consolidation chemo. and am now awaiting a Bone Marrow Transplant ... hopfully in 5 weeks time ...
As you may be aware Chemotherapy and the forthcoming B.M.T. leave me immuno compromised ... so no Needle Aponeurotomy ... or Xiaflex .. or even Open fasciotomy for me ... (bugga !)
Hopefully in a yr to 2 yrs time if the bone marrow transplant works I'll b able to get work done on my hands.
They have become very painful with the onset of the Lukaemia and ensuing chemo. No idea why ... ?
So i still rub magnesium oil n emu oil into them regularly as it helps a bit... n still wear restrictive splints at night ...... but have resorted to oxycodeine etc to ease the pain . Im still mobile but tire easily .. n need twice weekly transfusions after chemo (red cells n platelets)
I read all your posts up here - regularly with great interest ...
Now I'm prayn for 2 cures ....PMSL ....
One for Dupuytrens n now one for lukaemia. !
Good on you all ... your Aussie Mate 'Skippy' (Mike) (61yrs young 😎)

Re: Hi all.. Skippy's back ..

Welcome back and thanks for sharing your story Skippy. Seems like your in good hands so let us know when you overcome the leukaemia and can think about treating the hands.
