I totally believe what you eat effect Dupuytrens, I was diagonsed in 04 after years of not knowing what was wrong with me ( started at age 25) I had read that a vegan diet would help DC. I started as soon as I read it!! I was a vegan for 1 year and over all felt much better . I ate 2 raw meals a day a lot of fresh dark greens and fruit. No dairy of any kind. I am not a vegan now but do watch what I eat I still do not eat dairy and only eat a little meat ( mainly fish and no red meat) I stay away from process food and exercise and stretch daily. I have pretty much been in remission so to speak for almost a year in a half.. Have not had any new growths. I can't say medicaly that was the reason but I can say I feel so much better and it has slowed down the process of the disease. Alchohol when I do drink ( not often) my hand tingle and swell the next day... I try to avoid that!

What about citrus.?I read somewhere that citrus was not helpful to suffers of Dupuytrens. I must admit I do love fresh orange juice and lemon on my fish. Any thoughts?

That I have not read about, I am not a citrus fan and do not drink a lot of orange juice . I can't imagine a little on your fish would make any difference

I've heard it supposed that absence of citrus in the diet could be a contributing factor, hence the prevalence of Dupuytren's in Northern climates.

Australia Calling Hi Ceora. Good point however i live in a Mediterranean Climate where oranges are plentiful and infact I have had a glass of fresh orange juice daily for over 40 years .So there goes another theory . Drink up .I did wonder about fish in particular herrings because I know the northern europeans did consume lots of fish. We eat plenty here . Regards .

I hope fish is fine !! I also eat a lot of fish and tuna , I find that since I have taken red meat out of my diet it has seemed to slow the DC down. Just changing my diet in general has helped J Ann

I believe diet is a MAJOR contributor to the severity and the progression of dupuytrens
