Michigan xiaflex Dr recommendation needed
Hello everyone, I've had Dupuytrens for about 10-12 years. My right hand finally got so painful I went to a couple of Drs. The 1st surgeon advised waiting on surgery. He did not do xiaflex injections. Once I was aware of Xiaflex, I went to another UofM specialist a couple years after my 1st Dr.
The UofM Dr put the measuring device on my hand, and I was right on the "boarder" according to him. He advised to wait on the injections too saying "this is a life long disease, we need to wait". The 1st surgeon in Wyandotte was awesome, wish he did the injections. The Dr from UofM was at best cold. He would not even acknowledge the contraction limiting my wrist movement in my right hand/wrist to 50% NOR the pain in my hand and fingers. Was kinda weird to be honest.
My left hand now has bigger cords then my right, having exploded in the last 2 years, but it isn't as contracted as my right hand and wrist. The right hand is worse then when I was last at the Drs 4-5 years ago, so I'm assuming it meets the threshold now.
The main problem is the pain in both hands, and the contraction in my fingers and wrist in my right hand. The pain in my finger joints is awful, keeping me awake at night most days it is so intense.
We retired up north near Gaylord, in Lewiston Michigan, so I'm looking for an alternative Dr that does Xiaflex injections AND is a Dr with good bed side manor. I don't want to travel down to the metro area, but all my other Drs are there, so it wouldn't be the end of the world!
Thanks for any help you can give in my search for another Dr. If anyone has any limiting movement in their wrists from this, then I'd love to hear about that as well.
Kevin
