Needle Aponeurotomy for Dupuytren Contracture in over 1,000 fingers
In the Journal of Hand Surgery, in April of this year, Dr. Gary Pess et al. published a scientific paper providing clinical results on Needle Aponeurotomy for Dupuytrens Contracture in over 1,000 fingers. The results provide follow-up patient information results at a minimum of 3 years. It is interesting to see how the success of MCP joint corrections compare with PIP joint correction over time. Also, success for older patients is seen to be a little bit better. The paper is available on line at:

Re: Needle Aponeurotomy for Dupuytren Contracture in over 1,000 fingers
Interesting! Thank you for sharing this. Their finding that PIP joints are more difficult to correct and have higher recurrence is agreement with other publications, including those on collagenase injection. The probability for recurrence depends strongly on age (there must be some advantage in getting older ...). Van Rijssen at al. report that after 3 years 100% of the patients younger than 40 experienced recurrence while only 20% of the patients older than 75 had recurrence, see figure at the bottom of http://www.dupuytren-online.info/NA_side_effects.html .
If you are interested in further data on NA, have a look at http://www.dupuytren-online.info/NA_training_literature.html. That page also provides one of the original papers of Lermusiaux. In most cases the authors will provide copies of their paper on request. In some cases the Dupuytren Society can also provide copies.
In the publication of their 5-year data van Rijssen et al. additonally compare surgery and NA with Xiaflex(Xiapex in Europe).
