picture/finger numbness
Here is a picture of my hand with nodule under ring finger and cord beneath pinky. The nodule has become very pronounced in the last year. In the last couple of days I have been waking up with numbness in the tip of ring finger. I am concerned this is possibly connected to the nodule as it has grown in size and maybe pushing on the nerve or blood supply. I dont think this is the case but am unsure. I work with my hands a lot so it might be just irritated hopefully. Any suggestions?

Because you don't have any contractures yet... I would really encourage you to look into radiation therapy. Its proven very successful for beginning stages of DD. Search under RT on this Forum, ask questions of others...they will respond, and read all you can about radiation therapy for early stages of the disease. A year ago, I had successful RT treatment of my left hand and left foot (Ledderhose) where I had multiple nodules. For now, it has stopped the progression of the disease.

Its a clear choice for radiation therapy ! No choice for any surgical approach !

Re: picture/finger numbness
Yeah, i have been thinking about radiation. I actually consulted my hand surgeon about this in the spring and he strongly advised against it. (go figure) Not sure where to go for radiation, I live in omaha so im guessing I would have travel.

I am just starting to get nodules in my right hand in the palm and it looks like a cord starting. I am experiencing numbness and tingling in my pinky finger and have pain up my right arm. I am also starting to look into Radiation Therapy. I saw there is a doctor in Aurora, Colorado. there is a listing under the treatment tab. The hand specialist I saw told me that I had 20 years so don't worry about it since I am female. I want to be able to use my hand in 20 years so I am looking for better care.

Re: picture/finger numbness
You never know. My little finger went from zero contracture to over 90 degrees in about 18 months. Usually it takes much longer.
Check with a cancer center in Omaha. You might be surprised about the number of places offering radiation treatment for Dupuytren's. The important thing seems to be good insurance.

Re: picture/finger numbness
Definitely seriously consider radiation therapy. It worked for me.
I agree with Callie, you may find that a local radiation/oncology department will do RT for you. Somebody contacted each of the listed clinics for RT at some point and got them to do RT. I got Loma Linda UMC to start doing RT. One of the teaching radiologists was interested, did the research, determined the protocol to use, and did left hand in September.
Let us know what happens and if you have any questions.
