Progress Report

I like to check in occasionally with an update / progress report. I discovered that I had dupuytrens in early 2008. I had a friend who had it and had severe contractors in his hand and I wanted some immediate action. Upon discovering this forum I determined that at that time radiation was the best available therapy. I actually had an appointment to go to I believe it was the University of Virginia to begin therapy. Then I discovered that a Dr. Reymond at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka, KS (where I live) knew about radiotherapy and would treat my hands. Understand, this was early on, I had just felt the initial bumps in my palms and thought, "This is strange" and Googled "bumps on palm", my a self diagnosis which was then confirmed by two doctors.
I am happy to report that 4 years later the bumps have not progressed one bit. I can still feel the original bumps, but no contractors, no sign of anything. I like to follow up my original posts with updated ones as time goes by to give a people a sense of "well that was then, but what about now?" I'd do this all over again in a heartbeat. The only discomfort I had was laying in the x-ray machine with my arms outstretched above my head. Count those up as stretching exercises. I'm lucky that I took immediate action, found a doctor close who was familiar with the procedure, and moved forward. If anyone has any questions drop me a line, or look up earlier posts under dwilson540.

Re: Progress Report

To answer the previous question. No problems with feet at all, ever. I'm 63 years young. I have no idea how aggressive my particular case was. I only know that the bumps appeared suddenly on both palms, and I took immediate action. It may well be that my case only appeared and then stopped, I would have no way of knowing. But in my case it has stopped, on it's own or through treatment.
