Re: Progress Report: One year after RT

I don't think it does, that is why there can be side-effects. However the dose is low so any damage is minimal and healthy tissue has good recovery and healing capability.

What it does do is disrupt the incorrect or inappropriate healing process (fibroblast and myofibroblast proliferation) that is creating unneeded collagen. At least that is I believe the theory but IANAD. That also explains why RT is not effective if the condition is not in an active phase.

RetiredTeacher:
I don't have any experience, but when I saw Dr. Kline, he showed me his hands. After NA, he recommends RT.

I corresponded with Dr. Dusenbery at the U of MN two days after my NA about getting RT. She replied that the work she was familiar with was initiated RT immediately after NA and implied it was too late for me. I should have contacted her earlier.

Re: Progress Report: One year after RT

I was thinking about doing NA just a couple days before my second series of RT, but Prof. Seegenschmiedt advised that I do it several weeks in advance so that any flare up of the DD would be treated by the subsequent RT.

Actually, that's about what Dr. Dusenbery advised me. Wait awhile to see if the DD would flare up and then do RT if it did.

Would like to support this statement ... just for Dupuytren. With Ledderhose ... I am not sure !? It may have prevented the flare up which I experienced after my first Ledderhose surgery !

DEVELOPER'S AWARD !?

txmike:
It has been almost a year since my first radiation treatment from Prof. Seegenschmiedt in Hamburg. I am very happy to report that I have had no new activity in my treated hand. All of the nodules except one are smaller and softer. I am attaching before and after pics. Other than dry skin on my palm, I have had no side effects. I would highly encourage anyone seeking RT for this disease to contact Prof. S. Hamburg is a beautiful city, very safe and very clean. If any of you have specific questions feel free to send me a private message.

THX for progress story or better "success story" !

It confirms my own high esteem of Prof. Seegenschmiedt; without his scientific work over two decades and some German institutions we wouldn't have good data and published support for radiotherapy ...

He used to examine my hands with this type of functional testing as I am a piano player who needs the full spread of the fingers ...

WE should consider to present a DEVELOPER's AWARD to medical pioneers like Dr. Eaton, Prof. Seegenschmiedt or Dr. Hurst / Dr. Badalamente for NA, RT and Xiapex achievements ...

This image could be ...

... the acknowledgment symbol !
