Skin tear
Hi all new to site,just had xiaflex injection on Thursday and manipulation on Friday left hand little finger had bad skin tear base of finger.curious if anyone else experienced this looks like it should be stitched but doc said no

Ask you doctor to hit it with a little silver nitrate next visit and start putting vitamin e on it.within a month it wil be good as new.looks nasty at first.Good luck Dave

Hi Pennybridge; I had the manipulation today and got a bad skin tear; can you advise how your's healed?

Hi ,
sometimes it is necessary to have a skin graft to reduce scar tissue .Scar tissue can also cause contraction . Some posts recently mentioned having had a skin graft after NA. This is the reason to avoid contracture of the surrounding tissue. It may depend where the break is as you mention on the base of the finger. That's where all the action is on the joint. A millimetre pulling here will have significant contracture on the top of the finger. You may need to contact a plastics man idealy who is also a hand surgeon. Regards.

Hi All,
Not new to the site, but it is the first time I've posted....
Had a contracture of 4th and 5th fingers, left hand, operated on about 32 years ago and a contracture of 5th finger, right hand, operated on about 22 years ago.
I've developed contractures of the 3rd and 4th fingers, right hand and also the 1st finger, left hand which has led to a trigger finger in the 2nd finger - great fun!
I'm due to start treatment with Xiapex in a few weeks so can't comment on that (yet!), but can remember when I had the first contractures corrected surgically being given a big bowl of silicon gel and told to 'squidge around in that and don't worry about any stitches popping"... which they all did!
Most odd to see large areas of your hand moving in different directions to the ones you'd expect... but not painful and it did heal pretty quickly, without leaving any scars!
I'll update into the 'experiences' forum once the deed's been done...
