Re: Tissue Plasminogen Activator....Dr. Chin Brisbane..

Thanks to you both for this information. My disease in hands and feet seems to be flaring again and especially in my feet. My legs are even feeling the pull-much more than in the past-granted I had about a 3 week period when I wasn't doing my stretches and I think that has not helped. My pain in my feet again is mostly in the balls of my feet which results in not being able to walk much at all. Gary I am looking forward to continued reports and am seriously considering a trip to Australia...

Hi Penny

Sorry to hear things are not so good for you at the moment.....I had very high hopes that the hyaluronidase injections would give you a favourable outcome in the longer term....

I am greatly encouraged by this treatment with Dr Chin.....it seems that Terry has had an exceptional outcome over the longer timescale.....I have had the injections too....and in the short term I could not be happier....but I would like to wait a few weeks B4 posting.....just to see how things settle down....

It would be great if we could get some more stories from Dr.Chin s patients.....positive or otherwise....it seems that few are active on the forum.....Dr. chin claims to have treated over 100 hands....so there is a patient pool....

Wishing you the best Penny.....and I promise to keep you in the loop when I have something significant to report....

Re: Tissue Plasminogen Activator....Dr. Chin Brisbane..

Hi Penny,

Your condition sounds more like Gazza's, as mine was along the tendons and close to the ball of the foot, Gazza's I think was more on the ball of the feet. As Gary has said, I have had exceptional results after my injection in the left foot in November 2013. The nodules totally disappeared. I am having my right foot injected in August so will keep everyone posted. We are all looking for the answer but it seems everyone is different so its hard to make a call regarding efficacy at this point especially as it seems there is only Gary and myself declaring their experiences with this treatment.

Looking forward to Gary's next posting.

Best wishes also from myself. Cheers Terry

Hello to all that have been on this thread. As it is a few years old I am not sure if you are still on your emails. If you have any updates on your treatments it would be great to hear about it. Thanks!

Re: Tissue Plasminogen Activator....Dr. Chin Brisbane..

So far the right hand foot which has had one treatment has another nodule which has appeared, the original nodule is not adhered to the skin so is soft and pliable and does not give me any grief I am looking towards another treatment soon to hopefully reduce/remove the nodule(s) on the right foot.

The left foot is great and no sign of any nodule so that is now 4 years clear on my left foot. I wouldn't hesitate to get this treatment, it has worked well for me so far.

Re: Tissue Plasminogen Activator....Dr. Chin Brisbane..

Hi everyone. Thanks very much for your feedback Terry and Garry.
I have Dupuytren's in my right hand. Nodules in pinky and below ring finger. Both finger can still straighten, but the hand pulls inward at around 45 degrees.
I am very reluctant to try those injections (sorry, forget the name, starts with an X) as they sound incredibly painful and both my doctor and hand physio have said that it's not as successful as surgery. But surgery seems so invasive.

Gary hasn't come back to report long term results which is disappointing but you Terry, seem very pleased with results.
Can you tell me approx how much the surgery costs? I don't have private health insurance so would need to fund this myself.
Also, was the treatment painful? And how about the pain after treatment?
Looking forward to hearing from you Terry...and Gary if you're still amongst us.
Cheers
Mel

Hi Mel,

I had Dr. chins treatment on my left foot 2.5 years ago. It was successful in one area reducing tension from a cord and reducing the size of the nodule....on the ball of my foot there was another nodule that was treated but there was little change at that site.....it seems to me that Terry's treatment was very successful.....would I choose this treatment again over other options.......yes I think I would if I had pain and tension and felt that it would not settle down....I have not heard of any negative stories regarding this treatment.....but my preferred option is leave well alone if possible......
Wishing you the best....

Re: Tissue Plasminogen Activator....Dr. Chin Brisbane..

Hi Mel,

I haven't had the injection in the hand, only the feet. I am unsure as to the overall costs involved, I think it was around $1200 for the complete treatment, but i could be way out. Dr Chin will give an estimation once he has examined you. I am still happy with my feet, I would not hesitate to go again and probably will in the next year for another nodule starting to appear.

Cheer, Terry

Re: Tissue Plasminogen Activator....Dr. Chin Brisbane..

Hi Melly.

Instead of surgery I would definitely look into a minimally invasive NA procedure, possibly followed by radio therapy, and wear a splint glove at night. It has been working very well for me for three years now.

Re: Tissue Plasminogen Activator....Dr. Chin Brisbane..

Hi Everyone, especially Gaz and Terry, thanks for the info re Dr Chins treatment. My first nodule popped up about 10 months ago in my left hand, now I have 5 nodules in my left hand and 2 in my right. My GP doesn't seem to be up to scratch on treatment as he tells me there isn't anything in early stages. (He also said it was slow progression and not painful, I guess I'm not the average case)
I'm quite keen to see Dr. Chin. I don't mind paying for the procedure, but as I live in Adelaide I was wondering how many injections you have had in each nodule? Is it just the one or a course of them? ie, how many trips to Brisbane for me to factor into my treatment?
All of your info has been most helpful. Thanks
