Xiaflex Success Again Reporting 9yrs

Team,

I've been outta the Forum for years. Due to my friends situation, but on his elbow, I just wanted to post my update after 9yrs.

You can see almost 90deg contracture (could not put hand in pocket) became near flat and has stayed there. That is a heck of of demonstration, can't make this up.

Re: Xiaflex Success Again Reporting 9yrs

Team,

A friend of mine, also has DC, and had several surgery approaches 13yrs ago, both hands etc., though a very different case than mine, I thought to update my case.

I'm now updating my hand picture after Xiaflex for him & others to consider. It is 5/3/23 and flat (4/27/13 treatment) so 10yrs folks. Picture upload is not updating as of now..... but I'll try again later, but assume its flat as of my last publishing....... stay posted!

Marty

Re: Xiaflex Success Again Reporting 9yrs

I've had Xiaflex treatment 3 times since 2018--once each in the little and ring fingers of my RH and most recently into my LH ring and little fingers. Only the RH ring finger responded well and has not returned yet (in 5 yrs). The little finger next to it, which was the worst of all the fingers, not only didn't do well and in fact it's extremely deformed (something called "Boutonniere Deformity"). Two years ago after the cords in my LH thickened and started contracting the two fingers, I went to a different doc who administered the Xiaflex, then 2 days later came back and submitted to the snap-back procedure. Both fingers straightened pretty well but within a month or so, both began to contract again. Now they are both are at about 25 degrees inward and the cords in the palm area running upward on the fingers are the largest I've had. I am seeing a 3rd ortho surgeon next week who will hopefully determine that Xiaflex would be effective because I am not ready to submit to surgery which I believe is the only other effective option with DD levels that I have.
