cramps while having RT

Just a question, has anyone who has had RT on their feet noticed a increase in foot and toe cramps after starting the therapy? I'm having massive cramps in my foot, i had them occasionally before, but for the last 2 nights everytime i relaxe and get to sleep, BAM, I'm up walking the floor since I can't soak them in Hot water.

Re: cramps while having RT

Ouch.
Have you tried drinking lots of water, in case with any luck it's just dehydration?

Re: cramps while having RT

I had RT a week ago, and I had my first 'cramp' yesterday, right out of the blue = I walked it off, but it was fairly strong, as if the nodules in one area did not like what was going on. I was just sitting, with my comfy Asics and socks on, then WHAM = a major cramp in an area of three fairly large nods. I rubbed it out and walked, then it went away. However, this morning? I have noticed a more pronounced soreness in every nodule, as if something is going on that they don't like. It feels like I've played a couple of rounds of golf the day before = the exact feeling, but I didn't do anything yesterday but take it easy.

I think this is what Dr. Herman was talking about = it will take a few weeks, then a breakdown occurs in the cells. At least, that's what I'm thinking. But, I didn't have any problems DURING RT, at all. none. I personally feel like this is just part of the killing of the cells, the chromos, that the use, seek, to replicate and they have taken a hit with the RT.

As far as any other issues, I have had zero problems. The LD nods feel more pronounced, as if even the smaller, more hidden ones, are sore, almost as if they have all been identified and affected. Again, I feel this is part of the process. Nothing to worry about, IMHO. Try taking a little potassium, I don't know, that might help, but a multi-vitamin or some Ensure would probably be more than sufficient. Keep us updated, please.

Re: cramps while having RT

Bleu, I have had 4 treatments at OU. I have one fairly large knot at the base of my 3rd toe, it is the one cramping. Like Drumhead, I am noticing a soreness, not uncomfortable, but noticeable in both hand and my foot. I agree all the knots and cords on my hands and feet are protesting the RT. To bad for them. 3 more treatments to go. I have had 4 surgerys for ledderhose and duyputrens, this is so much better.

Hi Soonerfan!

I hope everything went well with your treatment. How are you doing now? Still getting cramps and sore? 4 surgeries! I just have LD in one foot. Did you notice new nodules popping up after surgery? Do you wear orthotics? My open wound has finally closed but now I feel major scar tissue. Wonder if the RT will help or hurt with the scar tissue? Feels like a ping pong ball under my skin. I need to find a foot doctor. Any other information from your experience? Any difficulties, challenges, etc?? Long wait times? Thanks Sooner!

Good luck Soonerfan! Hang in there. I'll be watching your posts to see how you go as I've just decided to go to Germany for RT

Blue, I have had 2 surgerys on my right hand and 2 on my right foot, the first one on my foot was about 12 years ago, the dr didn't know what the knot was so they removed it, I didn't have any more for about 8 or 9 years. Then it came back twice as bad. When I had the second surgery, they removed the tendon in the arch of my foot, he said the cords were wrapped around the tendon and he could not untagle them. I have had issues with that foot ever since then, but no more knots, I would not reccomend that surgery, only as a last resort. I tried orthotics after my 2nd surgery, I had the inserts made. Can't wear then, to much pressure on the scar and I have several knots in the arch of my left foot, to much pressure on them. I also have a large nodule at the base of one toe on my left foot, that is the one cramping. I have 3 large ragged scars on my right hand, so far I have not noticed any issues with the RT treatment on the scars. Don't know where you are located, but OU is fantastic. I'm local so I go in at 7:00 in the morning and it takes about 10 mimutes with set up, then I'm off to work. Only one morning did they run a little late it was only about 10 minutes late. feel free to ask anything, we have to stick together for information.

Germany, well at least you can have some really good food while you are there. The farthest I planned to go was to Florida to have my hand treated. But they are doing it at OU also, so..no laying at the beach for me. Good luck and have a safe trip to Germany.

Re: cramps while having RT

My goodness Soonerfan, you have been through a lot. How is the foot where the surgeons removed the tendon? Will the RT help with the scar tissue?
All the best
