Do any of you have any other skin problems?

Hi All!

I am new and trying to figure this all out. I have a history of melanoma and basal cell carcinoma as well as cysts, and something called sebaceous hyperplasia. I am wondering if it could be connected in any way or just completely unrelated.

It seems there could be many causes, but is heredity the most common one? My heritage is that of northern European descent. What causes this to come on all of a sudden?

Are any of you not able to walk? If so, what happened? Was it treatment? Lack of treatment? Or, is that not the case at all?

Can you tell I have lots of questions?

So glad to have found this website. Hard to explain to people about this. I just say it is a benign tumor (as I am on crutches right now from a surgery, apparently, I should not have had

I am learning and am grateful to all of you. I have a website/support group for my melanoma and now I have this, so thank you to everyone for sharing your experiences and your knowledge. It helps so much.

Jane

Re: Do any of you have any other skin problems?

Hi bleu

I saw you made post in another thread, but it's not clear to me you have been accurately diagnosed with either DC or LD? Since you have other skin related conditions that have bumps and lumps, maybe you should try to get a differential diagnosis (I watch House ) before selecting the treatment for you. Best wishes, having problems with the feet is really unpleasant IMHO, not that it's good in the hands though! I have DC in the hand and plantar in one foot. Hopefully the plantar will clear up and not develop into LD.

Re: Do any of you have any other skin problems?

Hi,

I love House!! One of my favorite shows!

I am sorry I did not make myself clear. I have a path report with a confirmed dx of Ledderhose. Last February, my derm took a punch biopsy of a nodule and the path report came back as a myofibroma. The nodule grew back 3-4x the original size so my derm sent me to a surgeon to remove it as it was causing me discomfort. He took it out at the end of September and sent the specimen out for testing. The path report came back as LD (it was done by the same dermapathologist who dx it as a myofiibroma). He amended the report to LD. The report also stated there were not clear margins so my surgeon took wider margins to get the rest and that path report came out clear.

I now find myself w/ a new nodule growing and trying to figure out what to do. I guess the other skin problems are unrelated. I did step on a nail before all this so I'm wondering if that did it?

Appreciate the thoughts on the matter! Have a great weekend!

Fortunately, I don't have LD, but I do have DD. They are similar in some ways.

Since yours seems to be active, read up about RT in the left column and consider that option. It has been effective on LD with other victims, I mean patients.

Re: Do any of you have any other skin problems?

Jane,

My LD was so painful that I didn't want to walk but had to. I remember bad weather making it so much worse. One day I was shopping and a hail storm came up (I didn't know that I was in a very large store) the pain was so intense I had to sit.

Fortunately I finally couldn't take it any more and went to a podiatrist (my rheumatologist withouth looking at my feet told me it was fibromyalgia). The podiatrist did an ultrasound and prounounced my fibromos huge on both feet. I didn't know what I had, he clued me in a(LD) nd told me about the different types of therapies, I let him try the injections which did nothing and then went to the cream that I rub into my feet twice a day plus special made ortotics that have depressions for the fibromos sit and now I can walk and do T'ai Ji every day pain free unless there is hail, snow, sleet, a torndoe or a hurricane somewhere about.

I also have Morton's Nueromos on the tops of both feet and those also are in his words, huge. I do nothing for them but wear thick wooly socks that cushion my feet and NB walking shoes and diabetic Mary Janes for dress (not diabetic only shoe Dr wants me in besides NB). With problems on tops and bottoms and wearing othotics other shoes don't fit.
