Hi there. I am Melissa. I'm 36 years old and developed my first plantar fibroma when I was 13. From the age of 13 to 33, I had a solitary PF which I believed was a Ganglion cyst. After a stressful period of time in my life, I developed lumps on the knuckles of my right hand as well as 2 more fibromas in my right foot. I was having intermittent right wrist and ankle pain and finally decided to see a podiatrist. She diagnosed me with LD. We have since started a regimen of injections. My fibromas break down well enough with the injections, however they've started growing rapidly it feels like. At 1 point, I think I had up to 6 fibromas. My disease has spread to my left foot as well but this is minor. My doctor still classifies my case of LD as mild. I have recently started experiencing some "pulling" sensations in the second and third toes of my right foot. Subsequently, 3 weeks ago my left foot seems to have gone completely numb except for the inner mid foot. I go tomorrow to potentially discuss surgery.
Is anyone else able to feel it when the fibromas grow? I don't know if I'm just very sensitive or maybe it's that I'm constantly on my feet, but as soon as new ones grow, I know about it.
Hi Melissa. It's not clear what injections you have been having to hold things back? Steroid, Collagenase or a hyaluronidase mix as treated by Dr Davis in Texas? The other option that might be good for you to consider to hold things in check is RT. There are several places in Florida treating DD/LD with RT. Surgery is usually best left as a last option. Mlissabeth:I have only had the steroid injections. Do you happen to know the RT locations in Florida? That would definitely be worth checking into.
