Hamburg

Maybe I should open a new thread for this?

Any tips and pointers of things to do and see in Hamburg would be greatly appreciated.

I've purchased a phrase book, got a travel book from the library, but personal experiences from others might be best.

I like piano, music, tennis, shopping (well not me but the family will be grateful), parks, relaxing, architecture.

Thanks

Re: Going to Germany for RT!

Robert Mirka, a sufferer from CANADA has given a good description about what to do in HAMBURG:

Here is the link:

http://www.strahlenzentrum-hamburg.de/pa...enmeinungen.php

The whole story of ROBERT is well written and easy to read and you see "all the actors of the show"

All the best to you and have a safe trip ! Larry

Hi Spanishbuddha
I don't mind sharing this thread at all as it is very much on my mind what to do while in Hamburg as well

It's going to be a bit challenging shifting gears from a hot summer in Sydney to a cold winter in Hamburg. Also, as it rarely tips below 15 degrees (celcius) here, I think I will have to pack every warm item of clothing I own!

I'm thinking I might go for art galleries, museums, explore parks (weather permitting) and maybe even catch some good german cinema as I understand German. Not sure if Hamburg has this, but some German cinemas have an English cinema night at least once a week, where they dubb or have subtitles. If you can understand a bit of German, it's really fun watching American /English movies dubbed in German.

Feel free to keep in touch to swap ideas

All the best
Di

Re: Going to Germany for RT!

Hi All
One week to go and counting. I've scheduled a 60 km moderate level cycling event one week after treatment - is this a bit ambitious? I'll check with the Prof when I have my treatment, just in case!

Hi Di!
Jeez, I thought I had missed your scheduled time in Germany....so glad I haven't!!
Are you getting excited now? Do you know what your treatment protocol is yet? I am so excited for you!!I think it would be wise to check with the Prof. on your cycling event.

Hi Di,

I'm coming to the conclusion that Germany is where I'll be going also even though insurance would cover my treatment here in the US. Have a safe trip and please post as much as you can. Even little details regarding the hotel, restaurants and of course, the treatment itself would be very interesting.

Take care,
Diane

Di, looks like we might overlap. Happy to meet up for a lunch and chat perhaps. I don't really drink (alcohol) so avoid bars. PM me if you want and I'll drop you my mobile number.
